Non-urgent blood tests Posted or Updated on 27 Aug 2021

Due to a global shortage of tubes used to conduct blood tests, your GP may ask you to postpone non-urgent or routine tests if it is clinically safe to do so.

Your GP practice will let you know if you are affected and will inform you when your test will be rescheduled.

This situation is affecting all GP surgeries and hospitals, including Accident & Emergency departments.

People who require urgent or essential tests will not be affected and should continue to seek care when they need it.

For more information, speak to your GP practice.
